From a scenery standpoint this road trip has a lot to offer the traveler. You start out riding through some lovely, quite, wooded, and lightly traveled roads that wind their way through the Pennsylvania State Game Lands Number 210 and past Stony Mountain. You'll pass by DeHart Reservoir, which serves as the main water supply for the city of Harrisburg. It also drives through a corner of one of the sections of Weiser State Forest and then takes you on to and over Peter's Mountain. You come off the mountain and descend down to S. River Road which hugs the Susquehanna River and offers some fun curvy roads. Along the way you'll also see DeHart Dam. All in all, this great scenic drive will have you passing through a nature preserve, a state forest, over a mountain and along a river for a great combination of beauty and fun. Lastly, along this route you can take a ferry ride across the Susquehanna River on the "Raging Bull" if the ferry is running and you're up for a little "boat ride!"
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
Other than Harrisburg, all the towns this trip goes through are small towns.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
The attractions on this road trip are pretty low key. The first part of the route travels through a conservation area (State Game Lands Number 211), so there are no commercial businesses, only trees. After you pass through the conservation area on 325 and switch to 225 heading north (see the directions below) you'll find the 3B ice cream stand just 1/10th mile north on route 225. Nice summertime treat before you go up over Peters Mountain. When you get to the end of the route in Millersburg, make a memory by taking a ride on the quaint Millersburg Ferry if its running. (Located on your left as you go thru town. Look for the sign or ask a local. It's not a big town.) Should just be a couple of bucks for a car to travel across. The river crossing will put you onto route 15, a busy 4 lane. However, before crossing, I recommend you grab lunch at the Millersburg Hotel on the south end of town. "

Attraction or Point-of-Interest recommendation: The end point town of Millersburg is a nice quaint little town. Check out the Millersburg website as it gives you a little history about the town, some info on the museums, some pictures and even info on the ferry discussed by this road trip's author.
