Traversing the fertile flood plane of the Walhonding and Mohican rivers, Rt. 715 is a twisty rural road that winds through many hills, valleys, cliff walls and the foothills of the Appalachians in the distance. The route crosses the Mohawk Dam with views that can be seen for miles. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound along this route.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
You'll be passing through some small towns with the exception of Mt. Vernon, which is more like a small city.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
Gas and all the food you could need are available in Mt. Vernon. The only attractions along this route are scenery and the ghosts of native Americans. If you return along Rt. 229, you'll find a great little steak and rib place in Newcastle.

Comments: My husband did route 715 August 2, 2009. There are some nice rolling hills and beautiful scenery. The road crosses lots of rivers and streams. There are lots of picnic and camping places to stop and take a break. We also did route 603, both routes together make a nice day ride.
