This road trip is a wonderful journey on one of the most scenic routes in the state! Along the way you'll be traveling through some beautiful vistas of the Cannonsville reservoir and open meadows. As you drive south on the fantastic rt. 10 from Walton, NY you'll find no towns except the ones that are underwater (NYC's drinking water). The road is a two lane highway with wide shoulders, sweeping turns and hardly any traffic at all. Makes you feel as if you have the highway all to yourself. The terrain along this route is mostly level and there are nice open spaces on either side of the road. Along the way you are completely surrounded by the Catskill Mountains without any single house in sight. There are some nice places to pull off the road and take in the beautiful scenery.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
There is really nothing "urban" on this route. As far as the road conditions go, this is an older road with a concrete base which just recently was repaved, it is smooth and level with plenty of wide sweeping turns, which in this case is good so you have an opportunity to look at the scenery which is just as wide and sweeping as the road. Traffic is very light here because it really doesn't go anywhere or come from anywhere.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
Except for Walton and Deposit, there are no services available on this stretch of the road. All you'll be seeing is beautiful scenery with mountains, water and bridges. All the services you may need are available in Walton and Deposit. You'll find restaurants, gas stations, bars and lodging. Just take this trip for the scenery not for stopping and shopping!
