This route takes you through a little known nice short stretch of mountain ridge road. Just turn onto VA 601 fifteen minutes west of Leesburg and you'll find yourself on this wonderful mountain country road. This 11 mile-long route runs through a not very well known spine of a portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains, right over the top ridge range. Along the way you'll be accompanied by beautiful views of thick lush forest with a few stretches were it opens up a bit allowing you to take in some nice views of fields. Another attraction you'll be seeing along this route are beautiful homes. These are dream homes in the midst of breathtaking views that people have built along this section of mountains. Much of the route is lined with some stone fencing that looks like it's really old. At the very end of your drive take Hwy 50 east for about a mile and you'll find a great valley view.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
There isn't a single town up there! Perfect. And the road conditions are great with some gentle turns. And the road was practically empty.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
You won't find anything to do along this route, not even a restaurant or a gas station. But that's the fun of it! This route is all about beauty and remoteness!

Attraction or Point-of-Interest recommendation: This is a great road. I've driven it many times as I live near Leesburg and it's just about 15 minutes away. The description above says there is nothing to do but they must not be aware of the nice winery near by. It's called the Bluemont Vinyard and I've been there a couple times with friends and really enjoy it on a nice cool summer night.
