This road trip offers great balance of an open relaxing highway and a rural road. There's just the right amount of scenery to make you want to run this route over and over and never get tired of it. You'll love this route!
Starting out in Stuart FL at the intersection of US-1 and Seaway Drive (A1A), head east on A1A to the beach. A1A will turn north and also be called NE Ocean BLVD. About 3 miles up the road you'll come to a roundabout and want to continue north ... A1A is now referred to as S. Ocean Drive. Take this for a 15 mile run of a flawless highway. Now A1A turns east and crosses over the Indian Lagoon. Right after you cross over into Fort Pierce. Now immediatly look for County Rd 707/Indian River Drive. Take a left there (head south), head through a few railroad "whistle stops", and take it all the way down to the town of Jensen Beach. Note, he speed limit along Indian River Drive is 35 mph! You'll be ticketed for going faster than 38 mph on this section.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
Along the way you'll be passing through a few towns sprinkled between stretches of beach scenery. The roads here are two lane roads
with minor hills and dips and numerous slight twists, turns and curves.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
If you keep driving along A1A you'll end up at the beach. You can grab coffee and a bite to eat at Angelina's or Dave's Breakfast. Gas is available at the Texaco or Cumberland.
Along this route you'll also have access to a number of County Beaches, a few convenience stores, and a concession at the beach boardwalk at the Jensen round-a-bout. You can stop and visit the "Elliott Museum", located near the end of the beach run. "Elliott" has an original 1929 Indian Motorcycle as well as quite a few cars.
You will find Nature Centers and a few shops and restaurants on the return run of this route. Sewell's Point, Jensen Beach and Fort Pierce offer plenty of shops, sights and places to eat.
If you find yourself along this route on a Thursday, you'll be coming back into Fort Pierce for the weekly "Bike Night". They close off 2nd St., except for bikes, fire up the band and open the doors to the restaurants in town.

Comments: I ride this loop very often on my motorcycle. I love to do this early Saturday mornings. There is a magical stillness between 7-9 am. Also, there is less traffic during this time. I love the variation in houses and manors on the West side and the view of the water the whole way to Fort Pierce. If you are looking for something the 'locals' do, this is it. I sometimes alter my route and ride the length of Hutchinson Island too. I am waiting for a friend to visit from up north and this is one ride we will do together.

Comments: This is an amazing ride. I found it by accident one day as I rode south by myself after my brother passed. I have since taken my riding group on this ride. It is easy, relaxing and a great ride!

Comments: This is a great ride and getting there can be just as fun. Be sure to stop at Archie's Seabreeze and a side trip into Jensen Beach has several nice locations as well

Attraction or Point-of-Interest recommendation: Make a stop in downtown Jensen at Crawdaddy's. It's 1/2 block off Indian River Drive at Jensen Beach Blvd. Grab a bucket of crawdads and free Cajun boiled p-nuts at the bar. It's the best N'Orlean's cooking this side of the Mississippi. Also live blues Thursday - Sunday.
