Scenery You'll See
This route is located in the southeast corner of Tennessee and travels through the Cherokee National Forest along the Ocoee River Gorge. The portion of the route that is in the Cherokee National Forest is the first official National Forest Byway in the country. Breathtaking scenery is showcased all along the route: views of Smokey mountains, a beautiful lake, a rushing river and lush forests. The route laces along the sides of the beautiful Lake Ocoee, nestled in between tall mountains. The lake is a reservoir that has been formed as a result of the construction of the Ocoee Dam. There are many opportunities for you to to pull over and enjoy the magnificent views of the lake and mountains from scenic overlooks. As you head east you'll be following the twisting path of Ocoee River and then out of the National Forest into the very corner of Tennessee.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
The only towns on this route are - Ocoee & Ducktown, TN (the start point and end point). These towns are really nice and worth stopping at and taking a look around.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
There's a major center for adventure outfitters in the town of Ocoee (and the Ocoee River). The center offers activities such as Ocoee whitewater rafting, canoeing, and kayaking. Opportunities for hiking, camping, horseback riding and mountain biking are available in the Cherokee National Forest. In Ducktown you can find some great restaurants and places to stay. Check out a nice B&B called White House Bed & Breakfast. Also, only a couple hours away is the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, where world-class outdoor activities and scenery can be found.

Attraction or Point-of-Interest recommendation: If you travel just 10 miles further east on 64 to Ranger, NC you will find a great private campground on a creek. Look up their website www,persimmoncreekcampground.com
