As you leave Heber City and travel towards Strawberry Reservoir, you are surrounded by spectacular scenery with the views of beautiful canyons and evergreen forests. There are several scenic overlooks along the way with beautiful vistas of Strawberry Reservoir. You'll drive through rugged Redrock canyons and wind down through the canyon as you drop off the plateau. The route is pretty hilly with only a few miles of flatland in the Tabiona/Hanna area. As the route takes you back into the mountains, you'll be heading through tight twisty turns, especially around Wolf Creek Pass with some incredible views accompanying you along the way. This section of the route shares the curves with the scenic Provo River and takes you to the town of Francis. From Francis back to Heber, you'll be experiencing more fabulous views as you travel by Jordanelle Reservoir, the Wasatch mountains and Deer Valley Ski Resort. You spend most of the trip traveling through the Unita National Forest.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
The road trip starts in Heber City which is a midsize town of 7,000 situated in a farming valley between the Wasatch and Uinta mountain ranges, and lies about 15 miles southeast of Park City, Utah at the intersection of US Highway 40 and UT Highway 189.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
Attractions and activities along this route include mountain biking trails, horeseback riding areas, boating and world class fly fishing on the Provo River. (Visit the Heber City website for more). There's Daniels Summit Lodge offering snacks and meals, yet one of the best is Hanna's Kitchen about halfway through the route. They have fantastic breakfasts with huge portions, amazing pies and reasonable prices. Gas stops are pretty scarce along the route, so make sure you fill up your tank before leaving Heber.
