Scenery You'll See
You start off about 80 miles east of Phoenix in a small Arizona town of Globe on a road loaded with twists and turns that add fun to your drive. The route travels through some beautiful scenery and offers plenty of things to see and do along the way. When you get to a frontier town of Show Low, you'll find a casino, lots of eateries and places to stay at. You'll start out in a desert environment and then travel up in elevation north. Along the way you'll see wonderful views of rugged mountain peaks and ranges as you make your way to the San Carlos Apache Reservation. You'll pass by Seneca Lake where you can stop and check out Seneca Lake waterfalls. There's also a spectacular view of the colorful Salt River Canyon that the route runs next to. And you can also take in the beautiful views of the White Mountains and the Mogollon Rim that stretches all the way into Colorado.
Towns/Cities You'll Pass By/Through
Not much between Globe and Show Low, Arizona.
Attractions & Points-of-Interests Along the Way
Along the way you'll find plenty of great pullouts with some beautiful views of the changing scenery for you to take it. There are also lots of fishing and camping opportunities and you can also experience world-class white water rafting in the Salt river (another rafting company link). In Globe Arizona you can walk through a 700 year old Salado Culture pueblo. There are more than 200 rooms that you can walk around, climb ladders to different levels and view the typical furnishings of the era. It's called the Besh-Ba-Gowah Archaeological Park and houses the world's largest collection of Salado Pottery. Globe has a very interesting history and is one of the most important sources of turquoise and home to antiques, fine arts and crafts. If you're here in October you can visit Globe during Apache Days featuring more than 100 booths with Native American art, jewelry, crafts, clothing and even food. You'll find great fishing at the Seneca Lake Recreation Area where you can also see the falls. This road trip ends in Show Low Arizona where you'll find tones of things to do including a Casino
